telesur — Hezbollah Blames Saudi Arabia for Spread of Extremism

Nasrallah noted that Saudi Arabia is fighting IS group in Iraq and Syria while sharing the same extreme religious ideology with it.
The chief of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah blamed Saudi Arabia Friday for the spread of extremism in the region.
In his speech, Nasrallah lashed out against the Saudi government’s ultraconservative legal system that is based on the extreme Wahhabi Muslim school of thought which the Islamic State group and other extreme groups in Iraq and Syria follow.
"Who is teaching this ideology in elementary, secondary and high schools and universities?" he asked, and added that "[t]ime has come for Muslims, Arabs and the Muslim world to tell the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: 'Enough."

What does is say about you when Hezbollah calls you out as 'extremist'?

Nebris, it says nothing at all. Or at least nothing useful.

In what important respects are they more more extremist than, say, the Viet Minh?

Hezbollah has never invaded or illegally occupied a square inch of any other country.

It is simply a self-defence force that has freed Lebanon from foreign occupation. Almost no Lebanese see it as anything other than a national liberation army, capable of doing what the Lebanese army was incapable of doing.

It is also happens to be a political party, whose coalition won 52% of the electoral vote at the last general election, but owing to the confessional parliamentary system is the minority opposition!

It has some very illiberal and unpleasant views on any number of social issues, but that isn't the reason it is vilified in the West.

Compared to Saudi Arabia, spiritual and major financial source of all jihadi madness, or Kuwait and Qatar, more financial sources of jihadism, or the US-backed Taliban-lite Afghan Northern Alliance, Hezbollah are Swedish social democrats.

Hezbollah did not exist, and had no reason to exist, had it not been for the illegal and murderous US-backed Israeli invasion and occupation of southern Lebanon.
